SilverSky is a merged brand of Perimeter E Security and USA.net. In short, they are Cloud security folks (started the introduction in 31 Jan 2013) that does mainly software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution that include the Email and Network protection pieces. It also has managed appl and security services offered.

e.g. managed critical communications, such as email, with a comprehensive set of cloud services, including Microsoft Exchange, Lync and SharePoint, SilverSky Mail – SilverSky’s proprietary mail service – and managed policy definition services.

e.g. managed security solutions and services, 24x7x365 event monitoring and response, managed firewall, IDS/IPS, and VPN remote user access

Primarily, the email SaaS is big time on DLP for highly customized policy requirements that track the flow of sensitive email with zero tolerance for business disruption. It has single policy engine makes it easy to write one policy across all services based on any message data or metadata – even third party services.

The basic content control allows customers to block critical outbound information such as credit cards and social security numbers, while its leading DLP technology allows for fine-grained actions that ensure the industry’s highest level of data protection.

Advanced analysis features like content-aware fingerprinting and proximity checking, full redaction capabilities and the ability to test policies before deploying them, usually reserved for standalone, enterprise solutions, are now available to secure email.

the best is to have them talk to you and hear it for yourself. they are also aggressive pumping the cloud security with acquisition such as StillSecure...not forgetting it is no just email protection they are looking at. The deployment aspects would likely be hosted Exchange 360 or equivalent. the question is how will they protect customer privacy and ensure strict isolation with other hosted clients ... not something shared out publicly though by most providers
