Delivery Options in an Exchange email box not working properly

I have set up one of our internal email boxes to forward to an external email address and then have also checked the deliver message to both forwarding address and mailbox.  This forwarding is working fine IF the email comes from an internal email.  When sent from an external email, the forwarding does not work.  The email does still display in the email box but I need the forwarding to work.

Is there something I'm missing in the Delivery Options or else where to make this work?

best way you can try to create the contact in server end. and you can try ...

one more option. you can create the external contact in server and you can enabled the forward option to certain mailbox in server end.

Thanks

What you ahve done should work, and you should use Message Tracking to see if the message has been forwarded.
However it is perfectly possible for the message to be forwarded from your server but fail to be delivered to the target mailbox. If the original sender and the target are using SPF records for example, then the type of forwarding that Exchange does will cause the email to be seen as spoofed and rejected.

I had created the contact on the server and that did not work.  I've also tried using the message tracking and I can see the test emails come in, but never can see the outgoing forwarding.   I don't know if those go out under another sender - they aren't in the sent box and I haven't come up with a combination in the tracking that works.

You will not see them in the sent items if you have set the forward using a contact in Exchange. That is because the email never even hits the mailbox, it is forwarded immediately within Exchange. In message tracking you should see the delivey to the external host when you find the original inbound message.

To be sure, you have set the forward to option on the properties of the mailbox? No rule required or set?

I have done further investigating and testing.  When I took a different email box and did the forwarding to my gmail account, it worked fine.  The forwarding issue is some how on our vendor's side of it.

I have expanded on the message tracking and I can see the forward to both my test gmail account and to the vendor account.  I'll work with them to figure out the problem!
