I'd like to setup a Hyper-V windows 2012 std server with XENDESKTOP 7 in a colo. The Server will be behind a Firewall.

I need to know how users will be able to reach the server. Do I need NETSCALER for this to work?

In my lab I am able to connect to the lab site, but I am not able to open the applications or the desktop.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You will have to open TCP ports 1494 and 80 (and 2598 for session reliability) for communication between your devices and xendesktop.

You will need Netscaler, Access Gateway or any VPN solution if your devices exist outside your network.

Here is a view of configuring xendesktop behind NAT:
