Display rich text using HTML 5

Is there a simple way to display rich text using HTML 5? All I want to do is display the text, the ability to edit is not necessary.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

That will still be done using CSS or specific html tags.

<style>
.green_text{color:green;}
</style>
<p><strong>This is bolded but tells screen readers it is bold</strong> and <b>this is also bold but only on the screen.</b></p>
<p class="green_text">This is green text because of the css</p>

A browser will not display RTF natively, the special character will all be rendered.  If you need something beyond what you can do with markup and CSS then you will need to use a PDF or some similar format, and you will no longer be rendering an HTML document.
