Hi,
We have few prod VMs which are online, but their status in VC as orphaned. These VMs are not visible while directly connected to ESXi hosts.
If we can delete the orphane VMs from Inventory without down time..?

still vms are up and running. only options in inventory... powered on

Yes, you need to unregister and re-register the vm via the cmd-line.

The vm must have been added via the host rather than vcenter hence the error, and if it was created via the host in a DRS cluster, you also get the "invalid" error. Always create/add vm's via vcenter for ESX/ESXi hosts managed by vcenter.
