Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap or click Search (if you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, and move the mouse pointer down , and then click Search).

Enter Windows features in the search box, tap or click Settings, and then tap or click Turn Windows features on or off.

In the Windows Features dialog box, clear the Internet Explorer 10 check box.

None of the given answers ar working.
After uninstall e.g. uncheck IE10 and restating the computer it is not possible to install IE9. You get a message that IE9 i already installed.
Yes it is possible to change compability mode as described but next time you start IE10 it is automaticly back in IE10-mode. I want to run IE9-mode automaticly every time I start IE10.

You can tweak your registry to force IE to open in IE9 mode. Run>regedit
Look for:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION
Create a DWORD as iexplore.exe and give value 9999. (decimal value)
Restart your IE and it will open in IE9 mode

I checked this in my windows8 on IE10, its working fine for me.
