Quickbooks keeps giving an unknown error code

I have an office that uses Qucikbooks PRo 2011.   The application is on a Workstation/server.   This workstation server is also were the database resides.   There are two workstations that access QuickBooks (Only 1 at a time can access it).   Lately they are getting an error message that will not allow them to access QuickBooks.    It is (Error 6000, 305).   But other times they can access QB and do what they need to do.  On the server, I shutdown McAfee Firewall to see if that was the issue.   I also ran Qucickbooks "File Doctor" and it said that the QB database file was ok.    Not sure what is causing this issue or what can be done about it.   Any ideas?

Have you excluded the share from the workstations AV? Not just on the host.
Is your network wired or wireless.  Another question is what is the size of the company file?
Are your firewalls turned off on host and workstations.  If not :

Grant the following files access through your firewall on ports 80, 8019, 56721, and 55343 through 55347 for both incoming and outgoing traffic:
AutoBackupExe.exe located in C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks Pro 2011
Dbmlsync.exe located in C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks Pro 2011
DBManagerExe.exe located in C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks Pro 2011
FileManagement.exe located in C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks Pro 2011
FileMovementExe.exe located in C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks Pro 2011
IntuitSyncManager.exe located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\Sync
QBCFMonitorService.exe located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\QuickBooks
QBDBMgrN.exe located in C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks Pro 2011
QBGDSPlugin.exe located in C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks Pro 2011
QBLaunch.exe located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\QuickBooks
QBServerUtilityMgr.exe located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\QuickBooks
QBW32.exe located in C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks Pro 2011
QBUpdate.exe located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\QuickBooks\QBUpdate
QuickBooksMessaging.exe located in C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks Pro 2011
OnlineBackup.exe located in C:\Program Files\QuickBooks Online Backup

Are the workstations accessing the db through a mapped drive? { Since it's a single user version you don' t have the qb manager installed on the host workstation.}   Since it's intermittent for testing I would change the autodisconnect on the workstation. By default windows drops a network connection after 15 minutes if it doesn't see activity on the share.  To change it (BE CAREFUL IN REGISTRY) HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters.
Autodisconnect  {reg-dword} value F  (15 min) change to FFFF  (65535 min)

Your better off installing this on a server and sharing it from there. We use to run QB 2010 on a server and upgraded to 2013. We access it from four Win7 Pc's in the domain and never have a QB problem.

Hope this helps!

The workstation server is a "Server" but is in a workstation type setup.   No one uses this box,

Tmoore, I will try to grant access.   But the issue is this comes and goes.  It is a sporadic issue.

I unchecked the box that turns off the network card to save power on the client and it seems to have resolved the issue.  Once in a while the client has to reboot to reconnect to the server but not often.   Thanks for suggestions.
