The MS PPT help screens do not contain a lot of help in describing the uses of the "Show Type" options.
Can someone  provide me with explanations and examples and/or links that contain examples and links.

What do you mean by "show type" options? Are  you talking about kiosk mode vs shown in a window, or are you talking about, for example, PPSX vs PPTX?

Apologies.  I meant to upload a graphic showing the specific option buttons I was referring to.

I thought I answered this before for you. http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/Office_Productivity/Office_Suites/MS_Office/Powerpoint/Q_28235867.html

If that's not sufficient, please let me know if there's specific information you're wondering about.

presented by a speaker -- the PPT file takes up the entire screen of your computer.

browsed by an individual (window) -- the PPT file plays in a window. This is handy if you need to play two presentations side by side, for example. Not used very often.

browsed at a kiosk (full screen) -- kiosk mode is designed for, well, kiosks. The slides don't advance with a mouse click (or space bar or arrows, etc.) with a kiosk presentation. You should provide a way for users to get from slide to slide. That can be automatic transitions, or it can be hyperlinks or action settings that move you from slide to slide when clicked. Animations are started automatically, not "on click." Kiosk mode resets itself to the first slide after 5 minutes of inactivity.
