Exchange 2013 ActiveSync issues

Hello,

Recently migrated to Exchange 2013 on Windows 2012 server all exchange roles on one server.  All appears to be working ok except Activesync.  Two issues are occuring with activesync:

- Authentication seems to be working incorrectly
       - user enters name and email address and password and hits next on phone
       - user is then required to enter server name and internal domain username "domain.lan\username" and password again for the connection to be made.
        - after that, connection appears to be made successfully

Once the connection is made we run into the second issue:
        - email is received on the device but whenever a user tries to look at the message it always says "this message has not been downloaded from the server"
         - this happens for all messages
         - user cannot send from iPhone either


Not sure if these two issues are related or not.

The only clue in the exchange server is this error that "seems" to appear any time an attempt to read or send email happens on the phone.

Do you have an outlook Anti Virus Email Add-in?  I had this problem with an AVG add-in.  If so I would try disabling it.

No antivirus on that server at all, we have a gateway antivirus/antispam solution through sonicwall.

I tried turning that off as I thought it was changing the headers and that didn't seem to help.  The problem also seems to occur with emails sent between domain users, which confirms that the antispam isn't the issue since those emails never hit the antispam applicance.

The Anti virus is on the client computers.  For example a user has AVG installed on their PC.  It is not installed on the actual Exchange Server.  I know it seems like that wouldn't affect it, but I had the same issue with Active Sync and domain users emails were showing up blank.  I would double check your add-ins in outlook.

THanks jbooz, but I don't think that's it as it's happening from happening from several workstations with various AV and its happening through OWA.  Some of the workstations tested have no antivirus installed at all.

Also, this doesn't explain why the users can't send through the iphone either.

We have the same issue with the same setup, Exchange 2013, Server 2012 we cant send E-Mail from any Device.
