"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

There are many ways this can be achieved in Notes. Your question is so generic that the answer can only be generic too:
In the PostSave event, put code that gets the appropiate document for the user and update it.

Hope this helps.

More generic responses: if you want to show multiple documents on the screen at the same time, use a Frameset, Or give XPages a try, it's worth it.

As has been said we don't have too much to work on here, it means more to you as you can see it of course.  So when you say "display a document".... is this one field, some rich text, etc. etc.. i.e. you could you just lookup the relevant information from the "other" document and show it here - or perhaps just have a facility to open it up in a dialog box to show the user?

Some more specific info, perhaps a screen shot of what you would like it to do and the info. to be shown would help.

Yeah better knuckle down and do more Xpages.... difficult to put too much time into it when you are still dragging customers out of R7 and R6.5 in some cases despite running 9.0.1 yourself...
