Google apps mail migration

Hello, I am in the process of migrating about 50 email accounts from go daddy servers to Google apps mail servers, at this point all my mail is still going to go daddy but I setup a test email account in Google apps to test the time table to download the mail from go daddy using outlook pop3 settings and then use the Google apps migration tool for outlook.  My problem is this took for ever I use a account that had 2.7GB of data it took 3 hours to download to outlook using pop3 then to upload to google apps it took 6 hours.... I hope I am doing something wrong my plan is to use one or two system to computer all 50 accounts but this would take for ever....its about 55GB of total data in all mail boxes....... If it going to take this long can I start downloading the mailboxes into pst now and then setup the new user mailboxes upload the mail to it now with the intention of going back over the weekend and just do the same to any mail that had been sent or received after today... hopefully this makes since ..... Also I am not sure if I need to wait to I switch over the records with the domain to point to Google to create all of the mail boxes??? any direction or advice is gladly appreciated

Part of the gmail setup is switching the mx records. However when you do this new mail will flow to gmail.
You can use the exchange tool (even if it's just IMAP) https://tools.google.com/dlpage/exchangemigration
If you have IMAP access to your GoDaddy accounts, that will go faster.  If not,  you are stuck using the POP3.  You can use GASMO with iMAP as well on a per-machine basis and that will also be faster than POP3.

I would suggest a few things:
1) Setup dual delivery so that messages go to both Google Apps and GoDaddy, this will let you start migrating without data loss.
2) Start the migration, then switch the MX Records.  Have folks work in Google Apps, let them know their data will arrive over the next several hours

For these scenarios, if we can't use an IMAP based tool, we use a  cloud migration center where we can migrate several users in parallel with unlimited bandwidth and more powerful migration clients.

Thanks for all of the direction, I didn't think I could access the go daddy after switch the mx records..... So I setup the go daddy account using IMAP download all the mail then use the google migration tool and point it to the pst the imap created???   Also do I have to direct all my users to the google.com/a/ourdomain page or can I just have them go to google and use the sign in at the top right?
yes you can access godaddy after you switch the mx. MX just changes where new mail goes and has no effect on logging into either of your mail servers.

you can just goto gmail.com and sign in with username@domain.com
Thanks again ... so it's no advantage using the special page www.google.com/a/ourdomian  ... I just think for all of my users it would be so much easier to just say go to google.com and click sign in at the top right corner, sign in and click mail ....
Or just to right to gmail.com
You can create a cname so users go to mail.<yourdomain>.com

If you setup GAMME, you will NOT need to create local PST files ... it is a server to service migration.
I have started to connected to some of the boxes using IMAP and then exporting them to pst. to prepare to import into gmail account and my problem is it's exporting very very slowly and keeps not responding but if I leave it ... it will just start back up again shortly ... if this is normal let me know or is there a better way?  And importing into the gmail account stalls.... Is there a better way to transfer from go daddy server directly to the gmail server?? or a better app to do it?
I tried to use the google migration tool it pushed the mail up but not into the inbox it add the folder below the inbox with all the mail .. that would be confusing to the user.....
Should I be concern about the IMAP connection time out errors... I get them every so often then I hit ok  and it continues .. I am hoping that it's not loosing any mail when it times out
No worries.  the tool restarts cleanly.
So a mailbox size 1.5gb will take a few hours a hour or so to download the imap folders then a few more to export the mail to a post file then should I just the migration Google tool or import the pst back into Gmail imap account in outlook?? The reason I am asking is I have about 55gb that has to be done over the weekend and one account took forever last night
@Deerek11 ... if you are using GAMME, then you don't need to do this in two steps.

What is your limiting factor?
Wow... I hadn't completely read what GAMME, could do I am trying to setup GAMME now it's not as easy as the other tools but if it can migrate them for me in one step I will figure it out.  My concern is do I need to do all of my account at one time in GAMME or can I do a few at a time?  Also any tips with GAMME and using it to move go daddy IMAP

I am using Go daddy mail server ...I called go daddy and they said there IMAP servers are Microsoft Exchange IMAP ???? and I can't change the passwords of any accounts of yet but can I do one account to test the tool now?
I finally got the GAMME working I am transfering one account 874mb started it @ 12:30pm and now it 1:30pm 16% complete .... is this normal....My concern is I wanted to get them all done over the weekend I see now using GAMME I can set it to do a few accounts at a time but I am just concern that I am not going to be able to complete them all over the weekend due to time... Can I split up a few GAMME tools over a few systems to speed it up ? I can't really start until tomorrow at 5pm
You should be able to complete them over the weekend.
Wow.  GAMME just worked but it did error out at the last folder Error :parse error (Error Code 31)    so it took from 12:30pm today to about 5pm but it did error out at the end

It was in Progress Migrated 1500 out of 3707 messages from folder INBOX for user= my question is how can I get the remaining messages if I re-run it will it start from the beginning   or will it just add what missing or is there a another option?
