Delivery has failed to these recipients or distribution lists after changing mail address format.


We use exchange 2007 and we had two different OUs in our AD  and iam not sure how this was configured by my predecessors.
The users I create in the OU-1 the email address for Paul Jones was
The users I create in the OU-2 the email address for Wilson Thomas was

We had all the mailboxes for the OU-1 and OU-2 users in our exchange server.

Now the OU-2 users have completely built their own network with a different subnet  with seperate mail server and have migrated all the mailboxes from our exchange server to their new mail server.

I was told that the email address format for Wilson Thomas had been changed to after they migrated to the new server within our premises.

Now if i send an email from my outlook to

I get abounced back message:
Delivery has failed to these recipients or distribution lists:

The recipient's e-mail address was not found in the recipient's e-mail system. Microsoft Exchange will not try to redeliver this message for you. Please check the e-mail address and try resending this message, or provide the following diagnostic text to your system administrator.

When i send email from my personal hotmail account to it sucessfully delivers.

Any ideas why it the mail is getting bounced back when sent from to

On my Global Book still I have all the email address.

Any help much appreciated.

If you still have the Trustco domain email addresses these need to be deleted, ie if the that part of company has been sold off.

If it is still part of the same organisation domain / forest then you will need to setup a trust between the 2 domains and setup email relaying on the CAS servers.
Do you still own domain name? Based on your scenario, it seem that they had changed the MX pointing record to the their mail server that a reason why when you send an email from hotmail, they can receive it at their mail server.

If you would like to able to send from to, you have to tell your exchange server that your exchange server are not authoritative for You do this by deleting  as accepted domain.

Once, you are done (wait for 2 hours), you may send them a test email using OWA, the email shall route from your exchange to internet and then pass to the their mail server.

If you are using Outlook to send a test mail, please make sure that you have deleted the autocomplete for

Please post me tutorials as  how to tell my exchange server that my exchange server is not authoritative for
How to delete  as accepted domain.

1. Launch Exchange Management Console
2. Go to Organization Configuration node | Click on Hub Transport node
3. Click on Accepted Domain tab
4. Right click for then select remove

I tried removing I get a dialog box which says:

Microsoft Exchange Error
Action 'Remove' could not be performed on object ' '.
Cannot remove the domain ' ' because it is referenced by the proxy address template ' '.

Hi Guys

After deleting the email address policy for this domain I have successfully removed the from the accepted domain tab.

I will wait for couple of hours and will post the results.

You may also get issues when users have cached email addresses for domain. These will need to be deleted also in outlook
