"Server" service fails to start in XP. Please help.

Please help me with diagnostics and fix of the following sudden error in my ~5 year old XP [Version 5.1.2600]:
C:\1>C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs

C:\1>net start server
The Server service is starting.
The Server service could not be started.

A system error has occurred.

System error 2 has occurred.

The system cannot find the file specified.

This time, no I did not. But yet another (3rd?) System Reboot  did the job all of a sudden.
