outlook

I use outlook 2010 and when I send an email and use the address book it won't send.  I get the screenshot message attached.  This is how it is.  When it start to type an email address it will come up with Jon Doe.  Jon Doe's email address is jdoe@123.com.  This will not send it get the message.  If I type in jdoe@123.com it will work fine.  Any ideas?  Must be something with my address book.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Open up your contacts, under the suggested contacts list find that address and delete it.  Retype the address to send an email.  Then try using the autocomplete again.

If the issue remains its usually your outlook autocomplete cache.  You can flush the cache by doing the following.

Close outlook, give it a minute to verify it is closed.  Open the run command and type the following

outlook.exe /cleanautocompletecache

Or just start typing the address, as soon as it auto populates press delete, then type it in manually. Next time it should be ok.

So if it works to delete it and retype it do I have to do this for all of my contacts or can I just do the clean autom complete cache?

Try the autocompletecache if this is happening for all of your contacts etc.  Its usually just a corrupt contact in autocomplete.

Will doing the automcomplete cache thing stop this from working for ahwhile or will I still be able to just type a letter and all of the a's wil show up and I can choose one of them and it will populate the address?

Nick RhodeIT DirectorCommented:
That will flush out that list and it will have to be rebuilt.  Thats why I suggested the removing the contact individually in hopes it was not your complete list.  You can also refer to here for more information.

Can't I just do the automplete thing and then use a program like n2kedit to create the n2k file again and the autocomplete will be back?
