vCenter Repair - Converted vCenter from Physical to VM not working now

Hello EE,

We have converted a physical system running our vCenter to VM using vmware converter. Conversion was fine. We placed it to ESxi 5.1. restarted the server on which it ran chkdsk on C: Drive.
After the restart we noticed that vCenter isn't working. We checked the services and found that two services are not starting. “VMWare VirtualCenter Management WebServices” and “VMWare Virtual Center Server”. We tried to start them but they are failing. I am not sure how to repair the vCenter, could some please guide me.

Also please let us know if repair install would fix this or we need to change the configuration somewhere to get it working.

Thanks,
Sudeep Sharma

Have you checked the VPXD logs?

No.

Connection is fine. We have tested the connectivity.

Yes checked the logs there are errors in it? Would like me to post last few lines of that logs?

ping to localhost was gong to ::1 so we edited the hosts files and now ping are to 127.0.0.1 but that has not resolved the issue.

Looking further.

I would have stopped all the services, and then completed the P2V, or completed P2V with Replicate options.

@hanccocka,

Anything if you could suggest from the logs?

We would see if that could be performed again. However how could we "completed P2V with Replicate options" ?

Thanks,

Hi hanccocka,

I have checked with the other tech how actually did the conversion. As per him he did stopped all the services before doing the conversion and this is the second conversion on which we are working.
