downgrade schema
Hi,
I have a server 2008 SBS domain and I would like to promote a member server running server 2008 R2 as a backup domain controller. I have run DC promo on the member server & it says the DC needs a schema upgrade. Basically I am nervous about altering the master controller schema in case it goes wrong (I have taken a full system state backup which was successful) but I am still nervous. My question is can I downgrade the member server schema to the same as the the DC, so I can add it as a backup domain controller without touching the DC.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks guys for your help, could you confirm if the DC requires a restart after a schema upgrade?
It doesn't require a restart but we do all changes after hours.
Thanks

Thanks Mike, just 1 final question: do I need to set the second DC up as DNS server also? Or can I have only 1?
You can have two DNS servers and I encourage it for fault tolerance.
