Application not able to communicate with the database server

Hi,

We have an application built in php and  connects to sql server
database.
Recently there has been communication issues between php and the database
where the connection drops intermittently displaying the below error:

SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 20047 DBPROCESS is dead or not enabled [20047]

There are other applications which connects to other datbases on the server and which are working fine.
I have checked sql error log and do not see any information regarding this issue.
Please could someone advise how i can solve this problem and if this is database
server issue by any account.

This is the error seen from the user application :

The problem is most likely in the application itself.  I would recommend checking the config settings to ensure all of your connection information is correct, as well as allowing outbound sql requests from the box to your DB.

Please advise which configuration settings need to be checked, since i am not much
familiar with linux administration , my developer says that the connection settings are
correct and there have been no changes done recently.
