Exchange email problem

we have a client who somehow is losing emails from a few years back and what I mean by this is that when they go to search for emails in the inbox - outlook 2010 the emails are not there.

so exchange for some reason is not keeping any emails that are older than say two years sometimes three.

Is there some setting somewhere where the emails are being automatically deleted after a certain period of time?

everything is fine in terms of everything working properly etc and doesn't appear to be any archiving in place.

any ideas?

Please check following links for same, it seems that you have configured Retention Policy in your Exchange organization.

Also go through below article from MS for Archive Policies in outlook 2010.

You might have configured a retention policy or you have some type of archive policy in place to delete or archive the email.  They also might have archived older emails to their own pc, just a possibility
