ACT 2011 Attach to ACT Contact in Outlook

I have a client running ACT 2011 with Outlook (not sure which version but I think 2010.)

Her Attach to ACT Contact icon is down near the system clock with a red X on it. It says there were a couple of thousand emails over the past few months that couldn't be attached.  I selected them all and then said "re-attach" and it seems like they are attaching now (though just one every dew seconds).  Sorry, I'm not an ACT expert, but I'm referring to attaching the record of the email itself to ACT history, not the contact info.

Any idea why this problem would exist, and why this isn't automatic?  There are no ACT errors in the eventvwr.

Thanks.

That usually means that those email addresses did no exists in the Act! database at the time the emails were sent

Thanks GLComputing. I had asked the client this, and she said they definitely were already existing contacts.

With email address in the email field?

Did they correctly attach later?

It looks like they did attach, and I have since looked through her data and found several contacts with no email address, so I'm suspecting this is where the problems lie.

Yes, it will only auto attach if the email address is there
