Exchange 2003 and Windows DC 2003

I have an Exchange 2003 server and Windows 2003 DC server. I have been taking system state backup of DC, NTBACKUP of exchange (information store) regularly. Besides Exchange server is aslo an ADC so system state backup of exchange is also been backed up.

In case if any server fails, how can I restore these backup of DC and Exchange to another two servers. Are these backups are sufficient enought to restore them completely.

your backups are sufficient, though the restore is a bit tricky - specifically for exchange
you would need to rebuild the server with the same name and ip address then install exchange in disaster recovery mode and create empty databases in the same location as it currently is.  then you can use ntbackup to do the restore of the databases

the exchange disaster recovery guide is very detailed in this process

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=85

if you lost the domain controller, you could just cleanup metadata then build a new server as an additional domain controller and let everything replicate - though continue doing backups
