Office home and Business 2013 not logging 'DidgitalProductID' in registry

Hello

We have written a software audit program which notes the installed keys for Microsoft products (windows, Office and the like)

We have found this very useful as despite our best efforts to stick the COA label to our client machines - they seem to always manage to lose them.

As they are OEM installs their only option apart from using the original COA (when it comes to reinstallation) is to purchase a new licence

What I have found recently is that office 2013 home and business does not seem to log its digital product id in the registry

For office 2013 pro - it can be found under :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Registration\{91150000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE} or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Registration\{91150000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}

Office 2013 lists its installed GUI as {90150000-000F-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE} but does not list it under

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Registration\ or

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Registration\

It does, however log it under

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\ClickToRun\REGISTRY\MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Registration\{90150000-000F-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}

or

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\ClickToRun\REGISTRY\MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Registration\{90150000-000F-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}

however does not log the digital product id

Two questions

Is this by design for Office 2013 Home and Business? (why does Professional log it whereas Home and Business does not??)

Can we retreive the COA key for office 2013 Home and Business?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Is this by design for Office 2013 Home and Business? (why does Professional log it whereas Home and Business does not??) <- yes, as the version of Office 2013 suggested, Home and Business version is just a product for individual and small families and Professional is a product of a corporation where the support level is different.

Can we retrieve the COA key for office 2013 Home and Business? No simple way. On activation of office 2013 Home and Business, it is a MUST to associate the Licence to a windows live account. So, there is no digital product id stored on the computer and you can retrieve the key via logon to the windows live account.

So as OEM / resellers ourselves - the only real way would be to either a) register the key on the users behalf or b) register the keys ourselves?

Can you see any other way to do this?

So as OEM / resellers ourselves - the only real way would be to either a) register the key on the users behalf or b) register the keys ourselves? - (b) will be a better choice but you need to have the trust from your clients and sign an agreement that you shall maintain the product keys on behalf of your client but you will have huge load of extra admin works. (a) will be difficult to do as you need to have access to your clients' windows live ID and password and my wild guess is that no one will give you such info.

The other option is to ask the client to register themselves and send you the product keys to activate Office 2013 H&S.

There are no workarounds. The last comment in the link below tells the hidden agenda of MS.
"... on Microsoft's part. They're tying to alienate small businesses that used to support their products it seems."
