CRM Dynamics CRM 2011 Field Not Saving Data

Good day,

When using Microsoft CRM 2011 and creating a new Account the field "Account Name" must be completed, after entering the new Account details and selecting "Save and Close" the new Account is created however the "Account Name" field is blank. Likewise when the Account is viewed from the "Active Accounts" view the field is blank.

If you reopen the new Account and enter the Account Name for the second time it saves correctly.

This problem began in CRM 4.0 and continues in our upgrade to CRM 2011.

I've spent weeks trying to correct this fault, so any help is hugely appreciated. I firstly suspected that I had messed up the mapping...

Thanks.

Regards,

Craig.

It's just an "Account Name" text field that is out of the box. CRM name "Name". No JavaScript running on the form. The name is manually typed in to title the Account.

Many thanks,

Hi,

Check if you have any plug-ins/workflow assembly registered on the account entity. If exists, try disabling the step/plugin/workflow assembly and check.

Account Name is a required field and without it CRM UI will not let you save. So the data goes to the backend but somewhere it is lost/removed.

Hi Rikin,

Thank you for the suggestion, you make a good point, I've checked and I cannot see any add-ins or active workflows using the Accounts Entity.

Hi Rikin,

I've disabled two SDK Message Processing Steps that were associated with the Account, with these disabled the Account name saves correctly.

I've attached a screen-shot to confirm that disabling these will not have any adverse implications on other components.

Many thanks.

Hi,

I cannot comment on that. There must be some business requirements or a logic to be applied for new accouts when they are created. Thats why a plugin is registered on two messages; create and retrieve.

If you were not a part of old development team/customization, kindly ask someone to provide the original source code and check what business logic is applied on account entity for newly created records.

You can either disable the code and re-register the plugin or completely disable the plugin once you get the idea what is it written for!
