BizTalk Server Setup

I am setting up a BizTalk server.  We are not currently using Biztalk in my organization, but it looks like we may be able to use this for many things.  I do have an MSDN subscription, so I have access to most of the tools.

1) What packages should be installed on the server, and in what order?  SQL Server?  Visual Studio?  I believe I saw where Office (Excel) is required for some of the features of BizTalk.

2) Is there any reason I shouldn't go with the latest version of BizTalk?  Of the other tools that are needed by Biztalk, or enhance it's functionality, are there suggested versions.

Thanks In Advance,

- Michael

answer For 1st Question
Please check the documentation prepeared from Microsost Biztalk team.

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=11503

from this link download document named "Installing BizTalk Server 2010 and BAM in a Multi-Computer Environment.docx"

And for the tools u want  to install. It depends on ur requeriments. Basic Biztalk installation covers nearly all everyday needs. But if u need swift or EDI then u must install these packs.

For the new version .. If a new version is published use the new version this is what i saw in most microsoft server application.

You Should Install SQL Server 2008 R2 + BizTalk Server 2010 R2 + BizTalk Adapter Pack

Visual Studio is necessary for dev stuff, Excel is required for BAM stuff otherwise not

2) Is there any reason I shouldn't go with the latest version of BizTalk?  Of the other tools that are needed by Biztalk, or enhance it's functionality, are there suggested versions.

If you do cloud stuff, you should definitly use the latest BizTalk Version (2013)  With Sql Server 2012
