"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You can connect the USB Hard Drive to your machine, go to the folder on the hard drive, select properties and the security. Allow only yourself (your userid) to have access.

Be careful, lest you take this drive to another machine and lock yourself out.

You might consider password protecting your office documents, although this has some of the same risks.

Finally, you might just keep your hard drive physically secure. That is what I do.
