Lenovo Hard Drive Cloning

I am looking for a cloning software that will be able to clone a Lenovo hard drive with the three partitions.  We have tried many softwares including Ghost and Acronis but none seem to be bootable after the cloning has finished.  This does present a problem when a hard drive starts to fail or when the user would like to have a larger hard drive.  Any ideas?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Have you tried CloneZilla? It's not as easy as Acronis for example but I've cloned with success with it.

Is the HDD of your ThinkPad still readable?

Acronis with universal restore might work.

Also you may be able to run a repair on the OS after the clone to get around the blue screen.

Is the stop message (blue screen of death) 0x0000007b?

That stop message is usually related to the storage driver.

The system does not blue screen.  It doesn't seem to even find the drive.  The system is still bootable and readable with the original drive.

Did you try with CloneZilla?

with the imaging software you can see the new drive and put an image on it but won't boot after the image is loaded.  Is there options to copy the Master Boot Record with the image software?  If yes try it with and without to see if it makes a difference.

Checking the option to copy the MBR still renders the machine bootless.

Can you take a screen shot of your Windows Disk Management and load it here?
I assume your drive is UFI Compatible formatted and its cloning requires special procedure.

but as said - maybe you're looking into other problems - what is the reason for cloning?
