I have seen that error come as a result of a root kit virus. These are the very devil to properly eradicate

I am not sure based on your post, but can you update the video driver in case it happens to be that?

Again based on your post, save your data from the drive (move to another machine in a carrier), then delete all partitions and do a fresh install of Windows.

Cant delete the vid drivers if I cant boot to windows.
The video driver was just a possibility. I think probably the serious virus is more likely.

Im following the virus line of enquiry at the mo, though I should just to bed as its 1.30 am.
Suffering for my art at the mo.

Anywho ....... added laptop hdd to my test pc as the only hdd and booted with Kapersky.

Got an warning saying it didnt have enough space for circa 300 megs yet there are gigs free.

I suspect a virus more and more.

Anyway updating now and hoping for the best.

Fly my beauties ... I mean ... download updates....
Slave the hard drive to another system and upload the minidump here.
