You can use it to manage desktops control applications permissions and clamp resources and performance across VMs.

Is it a profile management solution.how it helps in xp to win 7 migration

It will allow you to migrate you XP profiles to Windows 7, because they are currently incompatible.

But there are other products by LiquidLabs and VMware Migrate which can also do the same.

The Appsense suite has performance manager that mostly helps mulitiuser environments, mostly used on XenApp servers. application manager which can be used to lock users for running/install apps and environment manager- the environment manager part can be used to offload user application settings out of the user profile so when they hit a VDI or a XenApp application the users settings remain even if the profile is different. It also has a policy engine that will do similar functions like GPO for lock-downs and IE branding.   To me I see value in the product if you want to control the desktop at a granular level, Have centralized administration of all the VDIs and a gui interface to manage GPOs rather than doing it in AD. If you decide on using Appsense I would recommend getting the training, it's very robust and only comes with a couple wizards for personalizing Office and a couple other most used apps.  all other apps you would need to understand the EXE and what files/registry are need to keep the users application personalization settings.  That said, I've implemented Appsense for some large companies and I feel better leaving a Appsense GUI to manage XenApp and VDI rather than a bunch of Bat files and GPOs.

Whats license cost for appsense

Daniel BorgerSenior Citrix Engineer- CCEECommented:
That is a good question.. I've done some projects that the cost was well under 100 for a single user license and a year of support for just the environment manager part. From what I understand the cost of the suite is not that much more.  I recommend you contact Appsense they are really good about discussing the benefits and they will even come onsite and setup a demo POC and prove out the product if you want them too. I have not seen them charge for this as many companies do.

I'm not a Appsense reseller so I can't give exact pricing,  their cost model is per user for the initial license and then support each year per license. the support was 10-20 dollars per user from what I remember. I would recommend you call Appsense, they can get you all setup..
