Exchange 2007 Event 36888 The following fatal alert was generated: 10. The internal error state is 10.

Hi

I'm getting again thousands of events like this one on my Exchange 2007 - Event 36888 The following fatal alert was generated: 10. The internal error state is 10.
I couldn't find a SINGLE good article on the internet which would give me at list any idea what maybe causing it. Of course I know its something to do with SSL but that really doesn't help.

There are similar questions asked - but none with any answer which makes sense (or with no answer at all).

Some people just say - ignore it - disable logging - but for me its like saying - if you see something strange - just close your eyes.

I didn't see that problem for quite some time and it re-appeared again. 2479 events in last 24 hours and 4884 in last 7 days which tells me it just started.

PLEEASE HELP, it's driving me nuts !!!!!

Hi,

at least two different posts are saying that this type of errors are logged when someone is trying to access https site using http.

At least you can check that using OWA and IIS logs.

Issue is caused if you have a site configured for https and connected are attempted using http.  I believe the issue is resolved if you update windows and exchange to latest SP and minimum of Rollup 10 for Exchange.

Any example of what could cause some many attempts ? I was experiencing thousands of these events some time ago, then, it was quiet, and it happened again. That tells me its not a typical pattern, something specific, some client must be doing it. I would like to track it down.
