Export/Import SonicWALL NetExtender Connection Profiles

I am retiring my old notebook and have been using it for many years.  I use SonicWALL's NetExtender VPN client and I have loads of connection profiles that I don't want to lose.  I do not see a way to export them from the client.  Is there a location that I can copy them from and move them to my new notebook so that each does not have to be recreated by connecting?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi CITmgmt,

Unfortunately, to my knowledge, there is no way to export Communication Profiles except by manual re-configuration.

It might be possible to export/import Registry keys. There are only 4 fields per connection, which need to be recorded though, so manually re-configuring them is your best bet especially since the Registry keys is an unsupported method by SonicWALL.

If you want to give this unsupported method a try you will find the connection profiles stored in the Registry. You could export them and try re-importing them into your new machine *after* you have installed the newest version of the NetExtender client. Each connection profile is a separate key located within the Profiles key: HKLM\SOFTWARE\SonicWALL\SSL-VPN NetExtender\Standalone\Profiles

NOTE: Since DELL has acquired SonicWALL you may want to add a temporary Test Connection just to make sure the path in the Registry has not changed from SonicWALL to DELL.

This did not work for us.  I exported the key from my computer and then imported it on another tech's machine but he was not able to connect and it did not show up in his list of available connections.  We ended up just connecting him manually as well as the remaining connections from my list.

Well it was worth a shot but that is why I said I don't believe it can be done first and foremost (http:#a39545721).

Did you create new ones to see if the name had switched from SonicWALL to DELL in the registry path since the acquisition?

No I didn't.  It is something that I can take a look at and see if makes any difference.  I will give it a try in a day or two.
