You have to make a decision on if you want to install exchagne 2013 on the dc or on a member server. Installing it on a member server is always recommended.

Step 1:

Install active directory servies and DNS on the windows 2012 server.

Step 2 :
Install Exchange 2013 prerequsities and Exchange 2013.
If you are installing it on windows 2012 then below article will help you with detailed steps.

Step 3 : Configure Exchagne 2013.
Create a self sign certificate or a third party certificate and assign it to exchange.
Create a dns record at your ISP for your for owa/activesync etc and point that record to your exchagne 2013 server.
Create your mx records and point them to your server. Create send and receive connector and verify the email flow.
Create the users/groups/contacts etc as per your requirement.

Once the server is configured take a full backup of the server.

You will need at least the following:
1. Server with at least 100 GB for C: drive, and D: drive with enough space for mailbox databases (e.g. 100GB +), a log drive (50 GB or more).
2. Static private IP address. You can use private network addresses (they can be NAT'd to your public address for external access via
3. A server with the Active Directory Domain Services installed (it will auto install DNS)
4. Install Exchange 2013 with at least the following roles Client Access and mailbox (transport role is included).
