how to delete recent in sql 2008

We have a large list of lines every time we open sql 2008.  We want to delete those that we don't use anymore.

Give us a screen shot of these 'long list of server names'.

If you mean servers connected via SSMS, you should be able to click once on the server name, then do a right-click:Disconnect.

Is the list that when you open studio SQL 2008, in the "Server Name", there is a pull down of list of previous server connected.

How can we delete those we don't connect any more?

Search for a file called SqlStudio.bin, which is mostly located at the below path.
%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Shell\SqlStudio.bin


Close the SSMS and rename the file. you will no longer see it. There is a bug to microsoft for this. See the below link:
