Download the update manually from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=27594 and install. Without windowsupdate. This error is not installation problem, it's windowsupdate problem.

There is a KB article about that error - has been occurring since the first SP

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/955725

basically, a windows update issue, and need to check.net framework is enabled (loaded, but not enabled).

Now, because you have tried and it didn't work, you might have remnants hanging around. Best to try to fix those first :

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

And there have been problems if you have installed update Hotfix 942288, remove this and try again manually.

And as vadimrapp said try the download independently : http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=27594

Let us know how you go with the above...

Can you clarify, what exactly worked? Was it resetting windowsupdate per KB 971058?

rayluvsAuthor Commented:
Don't know.  All we did was run the link ID: 39532900.

After the restart, ran the update and "bang!", it worked!

So you ran automatic troubleshooter from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058. Thanks for clarifying.
