I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

On some printers there can be such a thing.
With SNMP you are not only able to read settings but wite them as well.

In SNMP v1, this would be the write community.

1. In your printer administration, you need to enable SNMP write first and have a look at the protocol needed
2. Get the MIB for your printer, a text file describing the numberd IDs more meaningful (optional)
3. Find the value appropriate value and change it to your needs with a tool like 'snmpwalk' in linux or in Windows with SnmpSet.exe
