Outlook for Mac, spinning wheel of death...many users simultaneously!

hi guys,

We have a big problem here at work.

Users have simultaneously mentioned that they get the spinning wheel on their Outlook 2011 (Mac). We're talking about 4 to 5 users at around similar times. But no PC's are complaining at all!

Now, in their settings I've been where you put the server name details we usually put in the IP address of our Exchange 2010 server: 172.25.241.107.

However, after some time that very line reverts to https://fccamexch01.uk.fc.local/EWS/Exchange.asmx . So whenever they have this problem, we go back and change the above line to the IP address and all works fine again.

Can you guys give any help or resolution towards this? Is this something in our IIS that could be playing up and causing this problem?

Thanks
Yash

Why are you using IP address of the exchange server ?
Have you setup Autodiscover that should take care of the correct setting in outlook.

I'm quite sure we have autodiscover set, as when users are set up on the PC's and we enter their credentials it picks it up. On Outlook 2011 though, we have to manually enter the server details.

I'm confused here guys. I'm getting one answer to have the audodiscovery enabled, another to disable it.

I followed the instructions of the EWSEditor tool. And it basically did exactly as the actual blog talks about.

What would that mean? That the errors occurring are not related to autodiscovery?
