Why would you do this? :) You have the recycle bin, which allows you as administrator to recover any files the user have deleted (un)intentionally for up to 90 days. This goes both for the personal storage and any site collections. More info here:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/sharepoint-help/manage-the-recycle-bin-of-a-sharepoint-site-collection-HA102772732.aspx

You can backup the local cache (by default in C:\users\username\library_name) to your data server, but chances are you will have multiple copies of the same documents, etc. So it's best to have some sort of deduplication. Or, you can map certain libraries as network drives and use a scheduled task to back them up to your local server.

Hi

Thanks for info.

I need to do it as i have clients who want a local copy backed up daily.  (i know Dinosaur comes to mind but they do pay my mortgage!!)

So every night they want me to take a copy of the data in all the accounts on the  365 SkyDrive and copy them to our server.  Then we do daily backups to removable disks.

Your second option may cover the people in the office, not not those on the road.

So i just want something to sync it with my local server copy.

Thanks Terry

Well, PowerShell support for SharePoint Online is very limited and you cannot use it to automate document operations. Perhaps some PowerShell guru can help with this, but the default module is of no use here.

So you are left with the more 'manual' method of having to collect the documents from each machine. Maybe a folder redirection or simply configuring the SkyDrive Pro client to store the local copy directly on your data server?

Otherwise, there seem to be some third party products that can achieve this, but I dont think you will like the price:

Yes I tried saving the Skydrive on a network drive as that would have worked, but you can only save it on a local drive.

thanks.

Thanks for your help.

I have synced Skydrive to each users PC or Laptop.  Then I do a backup daily from \\machine\users\username\SkyDrive to my server.

The Laptops only get backed up when they come into the office, but this seems to be working ok.

Thanks Terry
