Win 7 Stuck in Public

Windows 7 Network connections are stuck in Public mode

Tried that.  It say that it didn't repair it.

Try the manual recommendations under Let me fix it myself

Run a TCP/IP Reset to see if that helps. See the Microsoft Support Article below.

You might also try System File Checker. Run SFC /SCANNOW and allow to complete. Run again if errors remain uncorrected. Restart and test.

Try turning off network discovery, restart your system and then turn on network discovery again and see if it makes a difference.

Turning off Network Discovery did not work.  Trying TCP/IP reset now. TCP/IP reset did not work either.

Cool, I doubt it will help but you could also try a system restore prior to this problem.

Had to reinstall windows.

@DS928 - Thanks for the update. It is always inconvenient to reinstall Windows, but at least you know have it working.
