IE can't connect to WPAD on DNS

Hello

I am trying to configure WPAD for the company network.

We currently have a server setup to host a proxy.pac file.  All computers IE is configured to go to a pac file at this location:

http://wpad.domain.local/proxy.pac

The above works fine.

I now want to move over to WPAD and use the "Automatically detect settings" option in IE.  However, when I select this internet access fails.

I've added a Host name in DNS for "WPAD" to point to the IP address of the server hosting the pac file

Any ideas what I am missing?

Thanks in advance
