Cisco TFTP Deployment Tool

Hello Experts,

Can someone please recommend a lightweight TFTP deployment tool for Cisco routers?

The goal is find an tool that will allow me to deploy/copy a file to a number of routers in one shot.

I'm not after anything as heavy as Solarwinds

Cheers

I am not aware of a tool that does that that is lightweight. Ciscoworks, but that isn't lightweight.

Are you looking for a TFTP server, or a method to tell all the devices to download a file from a TFTP server?

I have a perl script that does automatic telnet which could send commands to potentially hundreds of devices, but it is an older script that only utilized telnet. Another potential option would be if you have an SNMP RW community that you could run commands through.

Kiwi Cat Tools is another piece of software that I've used to run commands automatically in the past. I'm not sure if it has limits as I haven't hit them yet since my need for the tool is limited.

rauenpc,

I'm looking for a tftp server that can do exactly what your perl script is designed to do..

Can I take a look at your perl script? If yes, can you show me how to use it?

I use an application called secureCRT to telnet/configure routers and switches. I know that secureCRT can run perl script.

Appreciate it mate.

I don't know of a way to push a file to devices... but it does have the ability to log in via telnet/SSH and run commands to tell the router/switch to download the file.
Under Activities, you would add a new activity. The type would be "Device.CLI.Send.Commands" in the drop down. The devices tab let's you simply select the devices that this activity will work with. The options tab gives you a section to define which commands to send. Below is a link that shows how to import numerous devices if you have a lot to hit.

Hi Rauenpc, Cattools appears to be exactly what I need.

Would you happen to know if a single purchase will allow the application to be installed on more than one PC?

Sorry about the delayed response. I'm not sure. I've only ever needed a single installation as the largest installation that I've deployed using that was about 150 devices which wasn't too much of an issue for a VM running CatTools. I suppose you could always call up CatTools support and ask the question.
