brother mfc7680-dw

i installed the full software for Brother MFC7680-DW and the control center update utility updater too.

i am able to launch the control center4.exe from the admin login but it doesn't launch from the user login.i can see the process brcboot.exe loaded in the task manager though.

i have added the user to the local admin group on the computer but its still the same.

please advice.

Have you tried marking the application to start as administrator?

Right click on the executable (or even the shortcut to the executable) and click properties. Then, on the Compatibility tab, check the box that says "Run this program as administrator."

I don't know that it'll help, but it's a good first step based on the description of the problem.

I did this already , even running as administrator under the user profile doesn't launch the app

Are you running it directly, or through a shortcut?

It almost sounds to me like something is wrong with the installation. Have you tried uninstalling this and re-installing under the user's account?

GlocapAuthor Commented:
i did this twice already. uninstalled and installed again. Same thing.

Have you tried disabling UAC, rebooting and checking again? There are some programs that, because of how they start, will not run correctly with UAC enabled under anything but the administrator account.

Additionally, have you tried running the program actually in compatibility mode for earlier Windows versions? Again, if you are installing a version designed for, as an example, Windows XP on Windows 7, it may be that as a problem.

i had disabled UAC , tried compatibility mode for Windows xp for all users but still the same.

Strange it works in administrator login . the user is added to the local admin group.

Have you checked user rights on the program folder?

I have seen something similar to this when rights got messed up. It may be that the administrator (as the account this was likely assigned to when installed) is the only one with rights on that folder, and therefore everything in it.

i gave the users rights on the install folders but it didn't work.

unless there is a system folder that the rights need to be checked.

Well, if all those things do not resolve the problem, I have no other solutions. Assuming you're using the most current version of this software, it seems to me that there's something that's just not compatible with the setup on this PC.

With all those things checked on, if restarting the PC doesn't fix this issue (which sometimes it will with this problem) then I just don't know...sorry.

tried that also but still the same. i logged with 2 other users and it launches fine.
don't know what has to be done to launch the app under the first users login.

Have you tried backing up the user's data from that PC (assuming it's not already stored on a server), then deleting and recreating his/her profile?

If several other users can open the program, regardless of their administrator status, that profile may be corrupt.
