IIS load balancing 'Network Load Balancer' cluster IP...

Hi there,

We have two IIS servers load balanced with Microsoft NLB ,  i am new to this so bear with me!!

I have a new customer site we are adding on and so I have added an IP to the cluster.

The question is, what will happen when we navigate to the website url as IIS is not pointing the IP anywhere...   the IP ends at the clustering on the IIS server.

Will they just get a 'page cannot be displayed'  until we configure IIS?

Just as long as they dont get another customer sites which is assigned to other ips on the same server....

If you have a site that accepts "all unassigned IP addresses" the visitor will be sent there.  Otherwise they'll get a "server not found" message.

ok is there a way to block it until we configure iis?  do i just need to create a fake site?

I would set the default document to a placeholding page, then turn the site on.  That will let you test the site, but still give visitors a friendly welcome.

When you're ready to go live, change the default document to your home page (or rename your home page to whatever you've been using as your default document).
