Local Permissions \ Rights issues after Domain Rename

After renaming a 2008 [upgraded from 2003] domain.  Domain Administrators do not have rights to workstations.

Very strange, removed and re-added to the domain and no one had administrative rights to any machine.  Tried the Domain Administrator account.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Did you perform in-place upgrade?

What do you mean by the statement below?

Are you referring to the workstation here?

IN place upgrade.

I've removed Computers from the domain, re-added to the domain.  Users who are domain administrators\admins, or added to the local administrators group do not have administrative rights.

Even logging into the computer as the domain\administrator, the administrator does not have rights.

What account re you using to log on to the Domain? Are you using your domain account that is a member of domain administrators or you are using the original domain admin?

I have had a situation whereby the original domain admin has been stripped of the rights for security purpose by the infrastructure team.
