Crystal Reports

I'm trying to create a crystal report using a stored procedure.  On this report the is a field that is in the table LOCATION multiple times.
Example field named description has a value of "West End" with a field named comment on the same table with a value of "Look to the right of the fire hydrant".  Then there is another description field with the same KEY as the previous entry with a value of "East" with a comment field that says "Just down the street from the Exit 14B"

I need both entries to print on the Crystal Report in the same section.  Currently they are both printing but on totaly different pages.  I hope I explained this where the question can be understood.  And, thanks in advance for your help.

How is the report currently designed?

Do you have groups?
Do you have a sort?

If you can get the records together how do you know the appropriate order?

Currently the user enters a ID number so everything pertaining to that ID is pulled.  No sort or group, things are however arranged in section.  For example Building Information, Location Information, Material Information....currently the section I've referenced is in the location.

How are they "grouped" into the sections?

No particular grouping...actually the request was to turn a Word document into a crystal report.  So really it is a lot of drag and drop...so theoretically sections might be the wrong word.  Because the fields mentioned can have multiple occurrences.  I drag and drop one occurrence shows up where I dropped it and the other one is on the next page.  Currently I have a report header and a detail a section….I’m trying to land the location details in a detail b section??

Crystal works with 1 record at a time.  Each record is used to fill all detail sections.  You can use suppression logic to control which detail section is shown.

I think you need to use a group or sorting to get the records together so you can do what you want.

Can you upload the report file or post some sample data

This is an example of the data.  I have to us several fields from the selection...but the fields highlighted are the ones I'm having problems with.  My true appreciate for your time and your help.

Given that data, which records are "linked"  I don't see how they can be linked together

The group of 2 rows are from the same table. So from the example I sent -- the data is from 2 separate tables.  The tables are linked by the "occid" field.  I'm having the same issue with both table.  On the first table the systemdescrip field has two different entries...and the second table the chemical field has two entries.  I certainly hope that made sense and answered your question.

I am trying to include on the report the systemdescrip field-I desire to have the 2 different lines print one after the other with the detail lines that pertain to each one on the corresponding line.

I was looking for the linking between the directions
Example field named description has a value of "West End" with a field named comment on the same table with a value of "Look to the right of the fire hydrant".  Then there is another description field with the same KEY as the previous entry with a value of "East" with a comment field that says "Just down the street from the Exit 14B"

mlmcc, I was just using that verbage as an example.  The fields are actually "description" and "comment".  Which in the data I sent you...are Sprinkler System(description) and 3" Sprinkler connection wye located on Southeast corner of building.  Systems covers shop area only.Operational 09\26\12(comment)

My problem is on the same table in the same fields are Dry Standpipe System(description) with
SAMPLE ENTRY ONLY - Standpipe Connection on Northwest Corner. 2 1/2 Wye FDC. (comment)

****I have several examples with the same issue--I just sent those 2.  If I've created any confusion, I apologize.

To get the description and comment together since they are in the same record you just need to put them in the detail section together.

How do you know which record (line 2 or 3) goes each record from the other table (lines 7 and 8)

You could link the tables based on the common field but you would get both records from the second table associated with both records from the first table

A many to many connection generally requires either another linking table or another field as part of the link
