"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi sumitgupta85

Thanks for your reply but the solution didn't work; emails still intermittent; they are more off than on.

Hi xpandit,

- are there any errors or warning under Blackberry Messaging Agent events?
- are all the users facing the issue or only few?
- is the Exchange and Blackberry connectivity fine?

Hi Experts

We have in the event log Event ID 20406 and Event ID 20000. The exchange and blackberry connectivity is fine. The issue we are experiencing is that the the blackberry email service stops functioning.

when you restart the  blackberry services the blackberry email service works  but only for a short period of time and then you have to restart the services.

It is affecting everyone, any ideas welcome

Event ID 20406 and Event ID 20000 are few common Blackberry events.
Can you please provide the description of the events.

- Under which account are the Blackberry services running.
- Are both Exchange and BES on same server.
- How many users and how many Messaging Agents.
- can you please run ' iemstest.exe' to check th Send-As permissions for the Blackberryt users.

- Recheck all the Blackberry Admin permissions- KB02276 BES permissions

Event-20406 for Blackberry Controller????

Similar to the below event,

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: BlackBerry Controller
Event Category: None
Event ID: 20406
Date: 7/6/2007
Time: 12:27:27
User: N/A
Computer: Server_01
The description for Event ID ( 20406 ) in Source ( BlackBerry Controller ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: 'Server_01' agent 1: will not restart - reached the maximum of 10 restarts per 24 hours.

- If yes then do observe the event-10277 for Blackberry Messaging Agent..
- This indicates that the Blackberry Messaging agent is getting crashed and hence the Blackberry mailflow is down.
- Based on the above information we can troubleshoot accordingly.
Waiting for your reply.

Hi Experts

The exchange server and the Blackberry server are running on separate servers. The permissions have been checked and are correct. The Blackberry services are using the account Besadmin. we only have one messaging agent, with plus minus 55 users

I am now geeting error ID 20000 in the event viewer

Hi xpandit,

The same 20000 will be triggered for different Messaging Agent issue.
So can you please provide the complete discription of the event.
what do you find in th BMAGT logs..

The exact issue is Blackberry will not work with Exchange 2013 as MAPI is not getting recognised.

The version 5.0.4 will work perfectly fine till exchange 2010.

As per your event the registry key under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Messaging Subsystem\Profile should display four registry key (2 for Messaging Agent and another 2 for Blackberry Server). Observed that its getting deleted after some time and recreate it at controller service restart.

In Both Messaging agent key it should display Exchange 2013 Hostname. Which is observed and not working with Exchange 2013.
