How to filter or group the data in a trace file

I've created some traces to files (not SQL tables) using SQL Server Profiler.  I can open the files with SQL Server Profiler, but I'd like to filter and group the entries so I can see which application is responsible for all the SQL activity.

But I don't see any ability in SQL Server Profiler to manipulate the data in a trace, if the trace was recorded to a file.  I can export the data to an SQL file, but that doesn't seem useful either.

There must be a way to manipulate the data in a trace recorded to a file.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

use the fn_trace_gettable function:
Returns the content of one or more trace files in tabular form.
fn_trace_gettable ( 'filename' , number_files )

more at:

FROM fn_trace_gettable('c:\temp\mytrace.trc', default)
WHERE <...>

OK.  Or select it into an SQL table.  So you can't do much with the data while it is still in the .trc file.
