Catalyst 6509 show commands

I need to do like an assessmment of a atalyst 6509. Is there a set of commands that I can use for that? I know sh ver, sh platform hardware, and sh redundancy. But is there other commands that I can use to get like the utilization for the ports or memory or processes?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

There are individual commands to get what you are asking for, but to get a one time shot of just about everything you can find out about a given Cisco IOS device, use "show tech-support" (or show tech).  That will give you the what Cisco TAC usually requests when troubleshooting a device and includes configuration, diagnostics, utilization, statistics, etc.

Given that even on simple devices, the output is huge, two things you'll want to do.  First, either log output from the terminal to a text file, or ensure that your scrollback buffer is suitably large.  A show tech from a Catalyst 3750 stack switch (two 24 port switches) was over 8k lines of output.  Second thing, is to disable paging on the terminal session with the 6500.  The command "terminal length 0" will disable paging and allow the output to scroll until it completes.  If you don't do this, you'll sit there forever paging through all of the output.

Is there a way to know which commands show tech is using because I don't thin want to scroll through some of the unnecessary info. Thanks

Show tech actually lists the commands it uses to gather the information:
# show tech-support

The actual list of commands will vary based on which IOS device you run it on and what's installed.  On the 3750 switch stack, here are the ones that it runs:
show clock
show version
show running-config
show stacks
show interfaces
show controllers
show user
show file systems
show flash:
show flash2:
show data-corruption
show memory statistics
show process memory
show process cpu
show process cpu history
show logging
show env all
show interfaces status
show interfaces status err-disabled
show interfaces switchport
show interfaces trunk
show vlan
show mac-address-table
show spanning-tree
show etherchannel summary
show ipc nodes
show ipc ports
show ipc status
show cef linecard
show ip mds stats linecard
show sdm prefer
show switch stack-ring speed
show switch detail
show controllers power inline
show diagnostic switch
show diagnostic post
show crypto key mypubkey rsa
show buffers
show inventory
show region

I don't have a 6500 at hand to run it on, and even if I did, the list will change some based on the installed blades.  From the list above, here's a subset that seems pertinent:
show version
show running-config
show interfaces
show controllers
show file systems
show flash:
show memory statistics
show process memory
show process cpu
show process cpu history
show logging
show interfaces status
show etherchannel summary
show controllers power inline
show buffers
show inventory

These won't necessarily work to give you everything you're looking for, but it should provide a starting point.  Some of the above may not work depending on your individual configuration (power inline for example is only for PoE blades/switches).

Yes as the starting point. I also pull some snmp stats. But I'd like those commands because it shows me the data directly from the switch.

Thank you very much
