Forcing Update on GAL

Some of my users are complaining because they are in CACHE Mode running Outlook 2010 and it takes them longer to view the changes made to the GAL.   So would running these commands be better than taking them out of Cache Mode to view the changes in hurry?

Get-GlobalAddressList | update-GlobalAdressList

Get-AddressList | update-AddressList

Get-OfflineAddressBook | Update-OfflineAddressBook

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The only command that you need to do anything with is the last one

get-offlineaddressbook | update-offlineaddressbook

However the end users would then need to force a download of the Address Book in Outlook, which is not something that you can automate. Outlook downloads the OAB automatically just after Outlook is started, or every 24 hours. That cannot be changed.

If you are making frequent changes to the GAL and the users are in the office, then the other option is to disable the OAB completely. This leaves Outlook in cached mode, but Outlook makes live calls to the GAL. Not suitable for roaming users or users offline regularly.
