We have a MAC drive - Deskstar - that won't boot - we can hear it spinning, no clicking. We have taken it out of the MAC and tried to boot it in a PC but it doesn't get recognized in the BIOS. &nbsp;<br />

Does MAC do something proprietary with their drives so that even if I took a new MAC drive out of a MAC and plugged it into a PC it wouldn't show up in BIOS?<br />

Mac drives versus PC

Storage devices include any device used for storing and retrieving digital information. Hard disk drives (HDDs) use one or more rigid ("hard") rapidly rotating disks (platters) coated with magnetic material. Data is accessed in a random-access manner, meaning that individual blocks of data can be stored or retrieved in any order and not only sequentially.
