need to upgrade hpsnmp v2.1 to v8 on RHEL 4

Hi ALL,,

please advice the correct procedure for upgrading HP snmp v2.1 (installed) to hpsnmp v8

version  8.2.2-20.rhel4 (8 April 2009)

Filename: hp-snmp

can we upgrade it direct to latest or need to upgrade one by one

i would remove the previous version first then install the new one

Hi Thanks for reply Seth - but is was unsucessfull - package upgraded but version not and now it stopped working - so please help now its critical - how to fix it and what is the right way of upgrading it.?

what do you mean by "package upgraded but version not" ?
did you get any errors?  what happened when installing the newer version?

those installation instructions are directly from the manufacturer so you are saying their instructions are incorrect?
