How do you change the password expiry on an account to never expire on Solaris and also on Redhat.

passwd -x -1 username

Linux:

chage -m 0 -M -1 -E -1 username
0

In Solaris and Redhat, open /etc/shadow file, and delete the seventh field entry, ie. the "xxx" below:
root:2MdXI6KagYgGk:1000::::xxx::
