Apple® - 15.4" MacBook® Pro

I am looking at the link above. I would like to know if any expert out there would recommend purchasing this Laptop.

I use virtualization. so I will install VMWare Fusion and run windows OS on it as VMs.
Would that give better performance than using PC with VMware worksation installed on it and running other Windows OS on it as VMs ?

I have been told Apple has good hardware and stead fast performance. in this case where I need to install Windows OS on VMWare Fusion as VM, I am not sure if it makes any difference using MAC or PC.

I also would like to use GNS3 for Cisco Labs, would that give better performance than PC ?

Note this is i7 with 16GB RAM, and comparing it to a PC with the same Specs.

I will appreciated your insight on this.

Thanks

Hi,

i think you are a network guy i will suggest you to go with think pad and pc. If you are going to use GNS3 and visualization ,It will more help full.if you are going to use GNS3  for cisco labs .it is very easy to go with PC.Almost networking drivers and programs in networking side is based on pc ,you will get a lot of free tool in pc side .so you will get good support from pc side.If your going to use a normal use home ,entertainment game  i will recommend mac.But net work side  better to go with PC and reduce the network complication.

just check this model.

All the things you mentioned about MAC are correct but only if you like apple products and know OSX. Dealing with OSX for a windows person is quite difficult.
There is no doubt that mac has a good hardware and you can also install windows on it (duel boot). I have a MAC book air and I love its performance. I have made it duel boot but hardly used windows on it.

what about virtualization?
I want to install Vmware Fusion on the MAC, then install Windows OS virtual machines inside Vmware Fusion. Would that be faster performance than installing vmware workstation on a PC then installing Windows OS inside Vmware workstation?

Regarding GNS3, there might be a download for GNS3 for MAC.?

Thanks

If those are the only things you are looking for then why to go for an expensive Mac instead of dell or Lenovo etc.
I have actually not installed fusion on my Mac because I didn't got any free version.
For GNS3, search on Google, I am pretty sure you will get it for Mac.
Licensing is another issue for Mac as you get most of the freewares for windows but not Mac.
For performance, usually processor is provided by Intel but the diff is ram and hdd. In my case hdd is solid state hard drive so I get a good performance compared to other brands.

I know PCs are less expensive, but less performing
I got an i7 16GB RAM, but very very slow just to open windows explorer or browse internet.
I have installed AV and anti malware, but realized the slowliness comes from the hardware

MAC are known for good hardware, so if something runs slow on MAC it got to be due to the software.

Yes but before taking a decision of more than 2000 Bucks, I would recommend that you visit an apple store to get a feeling/look of a MacBook and talk to the experts over there.
